Emily Simpson was at a crossroads while filming the latest season of The Real Housewives of Orange County. She was worried about her son Luke. He was navigating several health issues, and she was feeling a heaping amount of mom guilt. Tamra Judge confirmed that Emily’s difficulties at home had her considering quitting the show.
Tamra Judge revealed an unseen RHOC moment involving Emily Simpson
Emily revealed her son was diagnosed with a rare medical condition called Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, or ARFID, along with other health issues. She had a really difficult conversation with husband Shane Simpson while the ladies were in Amsterdam that had her considering throwing in the towel on RHOC.
Emily shared that the ladies supported her while she was worried about her family and dealing with being so far away. “It’s more about support, someone saying I see you and you’re a good mom,” Emily said at the 6:07 mark. “There are so many times when Gina or Heather or Tamra would say, ‘You’re doing the best you can, you’re a good mom.’ And that’s what I needed to hear.”
“I remember having an off-camera conversation with you, and you were like, ‘Should I quit? Like I’m like thinking maybe I should quit,’” Tamra recalled. “I said, ‘Maybe you need to learn how to deal with this situation and learn more about what’s going on with him before you make a decision like that.’”
The girls supported Emily as she navigated the mom guilt of being away from Luke, who also has separation anxiety. Emily shared that Shane helped her make her choice. He said that if she quit, she was just giving Luke what he wanted, and he wouldn’t learn how to cope, something he needed to learn.
The latest season has been crazy. Maybe taking some time off is not a bad idea for Emily. But until then, at least she has the support of her friends.
