Tom Brady Reveals His Dog Was Cloned

Celebrities have access to some wild technology. From the best plastic surgery options to the top-performing gadgets, when money isn’t an option, the sky’s the limit. These things are common. We expect those in the spotlight to have the best cars and clothing. Now, however, their wealth can bring them something new, well, the same. Did you know dog cloning is a thing? That’s right. Listen, I love the idea of never having to live without my furry bffs. Cloning the DNA is another concept altogether. Celebrities like Barbara Streisand and Paris Hilton have cloned their beloved pups. Is it an ethical idea? Who knows. Another celebrity has taken the step to have their best friend live forever, and it’s famed quarterback Tom Brady.

Sadly, Tom’s beloved dog, Lua, passed away in 2023. She was an adorable pitbull mix who was by his side through his biggest moments. From his marriage to Gisele Bündchen, the birth of his children, and several Super Bowl wins, Lua was his greatest confidant. When she passed away, he was heartbroken. A few years following her passing, Tom brought a new dog into his family who looked a lot like his previous canine companion.

Tom shared that he had cloned his beloved pup with the help of Colossal Bioscience. Tom is a huge fan of the company. He is an investor and recently did a campaign with the company, where he shared that he used the company’s technology to clone Lua before she passed.

“I love my animals. They mean the world to me and my family. A few years ago, I worked with Colossal and leveraged their non-invasive cloning technology through a simple blood draw of our family’s elderly dog before she passed,” he shared in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.

The newest member of his family, pitbull mix Junie, is a clone of his beloved Lua. Colossal isn’t stopping at personal pets. They are also working to bring back endangered and extinct species.
