However, when it comes to their royal identities, sources tell RadarOnline that the “titles still matter enormously.” And this could be why Markle is deeply unsettled over the fact that she could lose her title once Prince William becomes the King.
A source close to the couple revealed, “Meghan’s really anxious that William could one day use his position to strip her of the title.” The source further mentioned that Markle has been telling her friends that “no one’s taking” her title away.
“To her, it’s so much more than a title – it’s tied to who she is, what she’s built and how the world sees her. Losing it would feel like being written out of the story entirely,” the source continued.
An insider revealed that the “titles” do matter for Meghan and Harry. This is because a lot of the work the couple does “ comes from being the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.” According to the insider, Markle understands what’s at stake, and she doesn’t want to let go of the Royal title.
The tension came after the former Duke of York was stripped of his title by King Charles, which served as a “wake-up call” for the Duchess. A person close to the couple said, “Meghan has taken it as a clear warning that no title is guaranteed. If anyone tries to take hers, she’s not going to stay silent.”
