According to The Mirror, a former royal butler believes King Charles would respond positively to Meghan Markle’s recent Veterans Day tribute, which highlighted Prince Harry’s military service. Grant Harrold said the monarch would likely appreciate Meghan’s public acknowledgement of veterans and her husband’s time in the armed forces.
Reportedly, Harrold commented after Meghan shared a video of Prince Harry in military uniform to mark Veterans Day in the United States. Alongside the footage, she wrote, “As my husband says, ‘Once served. Always serving’… Thank you to all who served, sacrificed, and continue to serve. Honoring you on Veterans Day. And every day.” Harrold is of the view that the post would not create any tension within the royal family.
He described the video as impactful and noted that Meghan appears to be taking a more prominent public approach to social media by sharing moments she feels are significant on key observances. He added that he did not expect the royal household to react negatively, saying he believed they would “approve” of her “acknowledging” the day and Harry’s service.
According to Harrold, King Charles was proud of Prince Harry’s deployment to Afghanistan, and Meghan highlighting his service would likely be seen as respectful. He noted that her post aligns with the purpose of Remembrance and Veterans Day, which honors those who have served in both past and present conflicts.
In addition to Meghan’s tribute, Prince Harry published an essay for Remembrance Day reflecting on the meaning of the annual commemoration. He emphasized the importance of recognizing ongoing sacrifices as well as those made historically.
