Owning Manhattan Star Jessica Markowski Found Out Man She Found Home Tortured Someone There

Here’s a real estate horror story. Jessica Markowski from Netflix’s Owning Manhattan just opened up about a real estate transaction that ended up going horribly wrong. She helped a guy find a townhouse in SoHo earlier this year, only to later find out that it had been used as a torture chamber. We assume her commission check still cleared, but the revelation left Jessica feeling rattled.

Season 2 of Owning Manhattan is coming to Netflix soon, so the cast has been running around on a press junket. When speaking with People, Jessica detailed how one of her clients, William Duplessie, ended up involved in a crime that made national headlines.

Remember the story about the cryptocurrency investor who allegedly held a guy captive and tortured him to try to steal his crypto wallet? That’s the guy! Jessica helped him get the townhouse where it all went down, and she felt “scared” when she found out the news.

“At that moment, I was just very fearful. Like, am I involved?” Jessica said. “I was just really scared of what was going to come through all of this. Like, did I do something wrong? But no, I didn’t. I just happened to secure them a townhouse, and lo and behold, that happened.”

Jessica vetted William and “did all the protocols” before securing the property. However, the real estate reality star never could have predicted he’d end up involved in such a highly-publicized crime.

“At the end of the day, you don’t really know your clients so well,” Jessica noted. “My job is to secure a home, and I don’t really know the underlying things that happen with their own personal business. That was very hard on me when that happened.”

Somehow, this isn’t the only reality TV connection to the crypto torture case. Next Gen NYC star Charlie Zakkour was at the scene when William and his co-defendant got arrested. Allegedly, it was a frequent hangout spot for him. Small world, right?

Today, William is still sitting on Riker’s Island for his role in the alleged crime. He pleaded not guilty and has a hearing scheduled for December 10.

Owning Manhattan Season 2 drops on Netflix on December 5.
