Prince Harry’s marriage to Meghan Markle seemingly didn’t have the blessing of one royal figure. Harry’s grandfather, Prince Philip, apparently didn’t fully trust the actress, expressing his trepidations to his grandson. The late Duke of Edinburgh allegedly cautioned him about what he’d be getting himself into with Meghan. That advice clearly fell on deaf ears with the couple marrying in 2018.
Philip’s wife, Queen Elizabeth II, gave her grandson and daughter-in-law the titles of Duke and Duchess of York. Evidently, Philip was concerned about how quickly things were moving between Harry and Meghan.
Prince Philip is reported to have warned Prince Harry against marrying “actress” Meghan Markle

They say that fools rush in, and that may have been the belief of Prince Philip regarding his grandson’s engagement. The Daily Mail reported that Philip was reluctant about the young couple. “One steps out with actresses, one doesn’t marry them,” Philip allegedly told Harry. That’s from the book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, by historian Andrew Lownie.
The Queen’s husband wasn’t the only one who had reservations about Meghan. In Harry’s book Spare, he discusses some intense moments his brother Prince William had with the actress allgedly calling her “difficult,” “rude,” and “abrasive. However, Harry says his brother never tried talking him out of the marriage.
For weeks, rumors have been swirling that Meghan and Harry’s marriage is crumbling. They are both apparently growing further and further apart, with career goals being the cause. Meghan reportedly wants to return to acting on a more full-time basis, leading many to believe she’ll leave Harry in the dust.
In 2020, Harry and Meghan stepped back from their royal duties and relocated to California. They have two children, Prince Archie, who is six and Princess Lilibet, who is four. Philip died in April 2021 at the age of 99
