Kandi Burruss had to clarify why her ex Todd Tucker wasn’t in a family Thanksgiving photo. The 49-year-old Real Housewives of Atlanta star posted a candid photo of her family huddled around a staircase on Instagram that featured Kaela, Tucker’s daughter from a prior relationship, but without Tucker being there himself. Burruss revealed last week that she was splitting with him after 11 years of marriage and, in a statement, asked for “understanding” as they figure out how this transition will work moving forward.
Burruss says Tucker was “not left out” of the photo deliberately
On Thursday, November 27, Burruss posted a picture of her family on Instagram with the following caption: “Happy Thanksgiving! I truly enjoyed my day with my fam. I hope you enjoyed yours! Now I feel stuffed like a turkey & need to lay down.”
Fans immediately reacted to the fact that Tucker was missing from the picture and posted comments about how Kaela was there in spite of that. In a prior interview, Burruss said that she, Tucker, and their children would be “having Thanksgiving [together] this week.”
This caused Burruss to explain the situation in a follow-up comment.
“Before anyone assumes anything, Todd came earlier to eat with us,” she shared, “but he wasn’t there for the pic. He was not left out or anything like that.”
It’s unclear why Tucker seemingly had to leave the celebration early, though the situation would be understandably awkward given that their divorce was revealed only a week ago.
There were numerous hints that the couple’s relationship was falling apart. He was noticeably absent from BravoCon, and Burruss appeared there without her wedding ring. She also changed her named on Instagram from “Kandi Burruss-Tucker” to “Kandi Burruss” instead.
She then admitted last week that the divorce was “brewing for a while.”
“So all the times you’ve been seeing me online [all smiles] means nothing,” she said. “I’ve been going through it, child. I’ve been going through it. Life has been life-ing me.”
