Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Phaedra Parks is a controversial character. When she first joined the show, she was hilarious with her quick one-liners and over-the-top parties put on by none other than Dwight Eubanks. When Phaedra was good, she was good — pickle photo shoots, her mortician journey, her donkey booty in a thong. But when she was bad, boy, did things get dark. We can’t forget her crusade against Kenya Moore, calling her a “whore” every chance she got, based on lies from her ex-husband Apollo Nida. And the nail in the coffin was when she spread horrible rumors about Kandi Burrus and Todd Tucker, claiming they were planning to drug and rape Porsha Williams. While Miss Phaedra might have no regrets from her time on RHOA, she probably should have a few.
As an RHOA cast shakeup is imminent, fans have been talking about who they’d like to see added back to the show. Phaedra and OG Sheree Whitfield’s names have been thrown around quite a bit. And to be honest, I was rooting for Phaedra. I miss her hilarious reads and her adorable children on my TV. But her actions are unjustifiable and she needs to put in the work to earn a return. And based on some of her recent social media activity, it’s not exactly looking like Phaedra is ready to sit back, listen and learn. Unfortunately.
Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss is one of those people who always has a million things on their plate at all times. She started off her career as a singer/songwriter but has dabbled in a little bit of everything. Including Kim Zolciak’s failed singing career. She’s got several successful businesses and a boss attitude to match. And her partner-in-crime Todd Tucker is always by her side, whether he’s helping with projects or taking care of their adorable kids.
While Kandi is always working, her recent seasons of RHOA were light on the drama. She always brings a sexy edge and plenty of hilarious facial reactions, but that’s about it. Her shining moment from Season 13 wasn’t when she was running Cynthia Bailey’s dungeon party as Mistress Angel. It was when she blew up on Kenya Moore for not sharing a crab cake. That’s the Kandi I need to see more of if she comes back to RHOA next season.
I firmly believe there is literally nothing Kandi Burruss can’t do. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star is a singer, songwriter, producer, restauranteur, actor, businesswoman, philanthropist — the list goes on. She’s also a badass mom and wife to Todd Tucker, and they are the definition of a power couple. Even though some people (*cough cough* NeNe Leakes) question Kandi’s career or come up, she remains unbothered and always finds a way to make her coin. The moral is don’t start none with Kandi and there won’t be none. Hear that, Phaedra Parks?
Season 13 of RHOA showed me that while I love Kandi, she might be beyond the show. While she used to get in blow-up fights with the cast, now she seems calm and collected. Well, unless you’re messing with her food. She doesn’t seem to hold grudges, forgiving Porsha Williams after all their history. She knows the definition of girl code and could teach Kenya Moore a thing or two about loyalty. Plus, she’s the Mistress Angel and has always been true to who she is on the show, through the good times and the bad. (Those rough days of Todd vs. Mama Joyce have stuck with me).
Teresa Giudice, the Tom Brady of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, has gone through a lot during her 10+ years on the show. We’ve watched her daughters grow up (Milania [Giudice], Milannnnnnia I remember when you were first born). We’ve seen her lose her parents. She went “to camp” due to her legal issues with Joe Giudice. She dealt with Juicy getting deported, a divorce, and hopping into the dating scene after a 20-year marriage. And throughout she’s found time to battle it out with her brother Joe Gorga and Mrs. Sprinkle Cookies Melissa Gorga. Tre’s really had a lifetime of experiences on the show, and somehow it always feels like she’s still just getting started.
The last season of RHONJ brought Tre a new man to handle all of her pent-up
horniness emotions. Luis Ruelas, as Tre puts it, is a gift from her parents in heaven. She considers Luis her “soulmate” and he’s planning on popping the question any day now. Luis got approval from not only Tre’s girls, but Juicy, her brother and even Dolores Catania. Dina Manzo doesn’t even have that coveted stamp of approval and she’s been friends with Teresa for decades.
The world of restaurants for these Housewives never looks easy. This isn’t the time or place to get into Lisa Vanderpump, but I think we all know it’s been a rough road. Like, really rough. And I can’t not honorably mention the pizza place Joe Giudice and Teresa Giudice “opened” before filing for bankruptcy back in the day. Is anyone else curious how that Joe Gorga knock-off going? Me either.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta women have tried their hand in the restaurant/lounge biz as well. Although, none have been as successful as Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker. These two recently secured their own show following the happenings in the iconic Old Lady Gang restaurant! It’s all happening! Though, that’s not to say this family had their obstacles along the way.
After almost a year in the pandemic, December of 2020 revealed some major shifts in the reality of Bravo’s reality tv franchises. It was announced that Below Deck had taken the number one ranking on the network! That means besting every Real Housewife franchise, previously led by Real Housewives of Atlanta.
The most recent Below Deck Mediterranean season was an absolute stunner, with dramatic ripples still making their way through the Bravo-sphere. The current Below Deck Sailing Yacht franchise has also upped the drama and intrigue this season. We’re talking love triangles, anchor drama, and pregnancy announcements! Meanwhile, RHOA is bringing us some SERIOUS love triangle/engagement mess mixed with a whole lot of other drama. Like moths to a dumpster fire, fans can’t look away. No wonder viewers are scrambling for more content from both of these series!
Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss is a boss. She is married to Todd Tucker, and has three children. She has multiple businesses and a successful music career.
During Season 13 of RHOA, her charity foundation, Kandi C.A.R.E.S, sponsored a food drive to give out groceries to single parent families in need. And Kandi saved the entire season by throwing Cynthia Bailey a dungeon-themed bachelorette party for the ages. Kandi even brought along Bolo to entertain the ladies.
It’s been a while since Phaedra Parks was living her best life on Real Housewives of Atlanta. Phaedra was kicked off the show ahead of Season 10 after she spread a rumor that Kandi Burruss and her husband, Todd Tucker, wanted to allegedly drug and sexually assault Porsha Williams. That is still so wrong.
Phaedra also engaged in a feud with Kenya Moore. During a RHOA tropical get-away, Kenya flirted with Phaedra’s husband, Apollo Nida. Phaedra shamelessly busted out her thong collection, and it was enough to make anyone blush.
