It’s time for your annual check-up! Married to Medicine is back on our screens, and the Bravoverse is better because of it. After Season 11 reached new levels of messiness, this show has had a little bit of a reset. We’ve bid adieu to Sweet Tea and Phaedra. New cast members have entered the circle, and things already feel a little less toxic. Just a little!
In Married to Medicine Season 12 Episode 1, “Cocktails and Polo,” the crew kicked off a new era with a few fresh faces. However, the lingering tension between Quad and Simone threatened to pull everyone back into the past.
What happened in Married to Medicine Season 12 Episode 1?

Season 12 kicked off with Dr. Mimi and Steve stepping into their new, full-time roles. They hit the ground running by hosting a polo party for the group. Everyone made the guest list, but one person’s absence had everyone talking. Plus, headlines and social media rumors stoked the flames of some old feuds, proving that the Season 11 reunion didn’t deliver resolve and accountability like everyone had hoped.
Quad is back, and she’s brought a friend

To say that Quad had a rough season last year would be an understatement. The M2M producers forced her to hang around her ex-husband and his new wife, as if that’s normal. This year, Quad is finally free from the Luncefords, so they rewarded her bravery by giving her an ally in Season 12.
The cameras pick up at Quad’s house, where she’s having a backyard party with a few friends. One of them, Angel Love Davis, is entering the group as a part-time cast member. She’s a nurse, a former Basketball Wives star, and a long-time friend of Quad’s.
“Not only is she beautiful, she is smart. She’s degreed up,” Quad gushed in her confessional.
For Angel’s first day on the job, she had to listen to Quad rant about her long-running beef with Dr. Simone. The last time we saw those two, they were nearly ready to come to blows at the Season 11 reunion. Now, Quad is mad all over again because Simone went on Lateasha’s YouTube channel and made shady comments about her finances. And of course, Simone was elsewhere in Atlanta writing up a list of grievances of her own. It’s a vicious cycle.
Dr. Simone and Dr. Jackie are caught up in the headlines

Season 12 finds both Simone and Jackie stewing over online drama. They both have wildly different approaches to their conflict.
Simone, hypersensitive to anything relating to Quad, saw an article where Quad listed her as the Married to Medicine cast member who would thrive on The Traitors. That seems like light shade, but Simone didn’t appreciate it. She also didn’t appreciate that Quad tried to offer her an olive branch by giving her a last-minute invite to her birthday party.
To recap, Simone is mad over an article. Quad is mad over a YouTube video. Maybe they should just stay offline, and that would resolve the issue?
Meanwhile, Jackie has beef with Toya, who, by the way, has once again moved into another home. Their issue stems from when Toya went on Watch What Happens Live, and she made a comment that Jackie’s husband should keep his hands “in his pockets” and away from the women.
Jackie didn’t like that. Curtis has been dragged enough on this show, so she lit up the Married to Med cast group chat to put Toya in her place. The editors showed the screenshots of the shady text exchange.
“Not cool!! I, Jackie would never say it about your husband on a public forum,” she wrote to the group chat, much to Toya’s dismay.
With all of that in mind, every single OG cast member is coming into the premiere with some sort of issue. Luckily, their new friend Mimi is hosting an over-the-top party where they can all address these things head-on. That’s the formula for this show, and twelve years later, they’re sticking to it.
The Sanders Polo Classic — with no polo

Last season, Mimi and Steve came into the group as friends of Dr. Greg’s. Although the Luncecords are no longer in the cast, Steve and Mimi got promoted to full-time cast members. Immediately, they got to work in Season 12 by throwing the Sanders Polo Classic.
Of course, when you hear polo, and you get an invitation that’s printed onto a chunk of astroturf, you’re expecting to see at least one horse. However, Mimi and Steve didn’t have horses, nor did they have any polo. Dr. Contessa, the other newly promoted cast member, called it out in her confessional.
“This is not a polo event,” there are no horses close to here,” Contessa joked. “There are no stables close to here, and we have put a fake horse right in the middle of it. I’ve been misled.”
Fake horse or not, Mimi and Steve did a great job with this event. Steve even busted out his mustard yellow suit!
The entire Season 12 cast RSVP’d for the party, including new cast member Brandi Milton. Jackie asked her if her thyroid was enlarged, as a welcome to the group.
The only person missing at the Sanders Polo Classic? America’s favorite dentist, Dr. Heavenly. Her absence didn’t go unnoticed.
Where in the world is Dr. Heavenly?

When Bravo dropped the cast picture for M2M Season 12, we quickly realized that Dr. Heavenly was no longer featured as a main cast member. Her absence was addressed during the Season 12 premiere, when she didn’t attend the Sanders Polo Classic.
As the ladies questioned her whereabouts, Dr. Jackie said she got the heads-up that Heavenly wouldn’t be there, but didn’t know the exact reason for her absence. Is it because she’s gearing up to launch a congressional campaign? Perhaps, but Toya had another theory.
Around this time, Dr. Heavenly’s son was indicted for felony aggravated assault on a police officer. This news surfaced while the ladies were filming, and Toya suspected that Heavenly skipped the party to avoid having to address it.
“That would be the only reason, because she hasn’t missed a group function in over 12 years,” Toya said in her confessional.
Simone and Quad face off at the Sanders Polo Classic

Of course, it wouldn’t be a M2M party without a little bit of chaos, and things kicked off toward the end of the premiere. Quad rolled up, and Simone got activated.
The pair came face to face for the first time since the reunion, and Simone loudly called her out over the last-minute birthday party invite. Then, Quad hit back about the YouTube comments with Lateasha. They went right back into their usual tit for tat. Out of all people, it was Toya who got them to snap out of it.
She asked, “Can you guys fix this?”
They weren’t sure. Simone revealed that she felt so affected by the Season 11 reunion that she was in bed for two days. We know Quad felt deeply hurt by Simone’s past behavior, too. There’s a lot of pain between these two, but Simone said she wanted to “reset” so they can move forward.
“I think we need time, and we need the space,” Simone admitted.
That’s fair, but how much time and space do they need before they can coexist like a normal friend group? We’ll have to stay tuned for the rest of the season to find out.
Married to Medicine airs Sunday nights at 9/8c on Bravo, and it streams the next day on Peacock.
