After a significant delay and Jake Paul going on an offensive streak, the highly anticipated Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua boxing match will take place on December 19. The upcoming face-off sparked controversy yet again, with rumors of a potential match-fixing swirling on the internet. However, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has vigorously denied the ‘fixed’ claims in his recent statement.
Eddie Hearn addresses fixed claims regarding Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua fight
Eddie Hearn is firmly rejecting fixed fight claims about Paul vs Joshua. Hearn called the allegations “completely illegal” while joking about his own ‘script’ for the upcoming match.
“One, it’s completely illegal. It’s a sanctioned fight where people can place bets on the fight. It’s completely illegal to have any kind of script. Could you imagine a conversation? ‘Hi, Ed. What we’re going to do is we’re going to come out in the second round, right? We’re going to throw a jab’.”, Hearn said in his interview with iFL TV.
“Let me tell you the script for AJ against Jake Paul. The bell’s going to go. AJ’s going to go out, take the middle of the ring, and he’s going to unload the heaviest artillery on Jake Paul’s chin he can as quickly as possible, and he’s going to knock him spark out. If you think this is scripted, wait till you see what happens on December 19, because you will go, ‘F**k me’. One thing’s for sure, that weren’t scripted”, the 46-year-old additionally said, shutting down rumors for good.
This, surprisingly, isn’t the first time Hearn has shut down rumors about the allegedly ‘fixed’ fight, despite there being zero proof to justify the speculations.
“By the way, just make one thing very, very, very clear. This whole, ‘Oh well if it’s scripted’ – please stop with that bullsh*t. One, we would never, ever enter a fight – by the way that is illegal”, the boxing promoter said in yet another interview.
“This is a professional sanctioned contest. Imagine saying to Mike Tyson, ‘Yeah mate, don’t hit me’”, a part of Hearn’s frustrated comment said. Additionally, Jake Paul’s manager, Nakisa Bidarian, has refuted the claims, saying Paul’s accomplishments are sparking baseless conspiracy theories.
