According to The New York Post, the episode, which was filmed during a Christmas Eve dinner held several weeks before the holiday, features the Duke and Duchess of Sussex preparing a meal while welcoming a guest into their Montecito home.
In a segment of the special shared on X (formerly Twitter), we can see Markle preparing gumbo. The dish, she explained, is part of her family’s holiday traditions thanks to her mother, Doria Ragland. Harry praised the dish as a long-time favorite and noted that he especially enjoys Ragland’s version.
Harry said he prefers it before certain ingredients are added, a detail Markle confirmed by mentioning that her mother often “saves a portion on the side” specifically for him. She said that Ragland adjusts the recipe with turkey sausage to suit Harry’s taste.
After tasting the spicier batch prepared for the show, Harry initially offered a positive reaction but then joked that he could “feel it puncturing through” the top of his head. He described the gumbo as “delicious,” but followed with a comparison that sparked Markle’s dramatic response on camera.
