Sydney Sweeney Snubbed From 2026 Golden Globe Nominations

Neither the movies, the image, nor Sydney Sweeney’s acting is getting any love these days. The star of Euphoria was among the notable snubs when the Golden Globe nominations came out on Monday. Voters chose not to recognize Sydney in the acting category for her portrayal of boxer Christy Martin.

It’s just the latest blow to the actress who failed to score well with fans in that biopic. Earlier this summer, she was the subject of controversy for a good jeans American Eagle ad deemed by some as promoting eugenics. She’s also taken some heat for reportedly registering as a Republican voter before the 2024 Presidential election.

Her latest movie hasn’t fared well at the box office. It doesn’t appear as if entertainment journalists liked it much either. At least not enough to put Sydney on the Golden Globe nominees list.  On the website, Decider writer Anna Menta puts Sydney’s performance in Christy as one of the snubs this year. She notes that one of the sex symbols today may still be in the doghouse because of her American Eagle ad. On the other hand, “Maybe the movie just wasn’t that good. Sorry, Sydney!” says Anna.

The movie Christy got notoriously poor box-office numbers and was among the worst openings of all time in terms of earnings.

While Sydney’s not getting a lot of love, she wasn’t the only one snubbed for nominations Monday. Among the biggest head-scratchers was Wicked: For Good, which failed to garner a nod for Best Musical or Comedy.

Among the big winners was Sinners, which got seven nominations, while the TV show The White Lotus received six.
