The holidays are right around the corner (yes, we’re counting the days!), and while the Royal Family are busy preparing for their annual trip to the Sandringham Estate, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Christmas plans look very different. And probably a lot sunnier.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will remain in Montecito with their kids for Christmas

After a short ski trip to Aspen, Prince Harry has headed home to California to spend Christmas with his wife and children, according to HELLO! magazine. The family of four are expected to enjoy the holiday season together at their Montecito mansion … a stark contrast to the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, England.
The Royal Family typically spends Christmas at Sandringham, as has been tradition for many years. King Charles, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Queen Camilla are just some of the royals who’ll be there. They exchange gifts on Christmas Eve and all make a public walk to church on Christmas morning. This is often the highlight of the day for many locals.
Speaking in the 2022 Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, Meghan said she remembers her first Christmas at Sandringham “so vividly.”
“There was just this constant movement and energy and fun,” she went on. “I just thought it was so wonderful.”
Wonderful as it may be, Harry and Meghan have not spent a Christmas with the royals at Sandringham since 2018. And things will be no different this year, it seems.
But the Duke and Duchess of Sussex won’t be the only high-profile royals not in attendance. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson have both reportedly been uninvited from spending Christmas with the royals at Sandringham, after being stripped of their titles and evicted from their Royal Lodge home.
