Survivor 49 has officially wrapped up, after crowning Savannah Louie as the winner. With the end of every Survivor season, the anticipation of another begins. The excitement around Survivor 50 is heightened, since this will be a season of all returning players. While every Survivor season is enjoyable, returnee seasons are extra special.

The Survivor 49 finale gave fans a sneak peek of Survivor 50, which will premiere this February. While some aspects of the trailer were amazing, others fell short. Will Survivor 50 be a hit based on the stellar cast? Or will some new twists cause the historic season to fall short?

The best part of Survivor 50 is, hands down, the cast. Survivor 50 features 12 players from old-school Survivor and twelve players from the New Era. The trailer opened up with a quote from Coach Wade, aka the Dragon Slayer. Coach is an iconic Survivor player who previously played in three seasons.

The trailer also highlighted Survivor legends Colby Donaldson and Cirie Fields. This will be Colby’s fourth season, and Cirie’s sixth. Cirie explained that she’d been in the Survivor franchise for 20 years, and claimed that she had some “unfinished business”.

One of the most notable New Era players on Survivor 50 is Q Burdette. Known for his unique confessionals and memorable quotes from Survivor 46, Q’s cameo in the Survivor 50 trailer didn’t disappoint. Q proclaimed, “Make no mistake about it, I’m thinking about winning. I’m gonna cancel everything that you can cancel, your Christmas, your vacation, your doctor’s appointment!” What does it mean? We have no clue, but that’s part of the reason why Q is such an amazing Survivor player and confessional assassin.

While not every player received a ton of screen time in the trailer, most were shown a few times. Jenna Lewis-Dougherty, who was on the first ever season of Survivor, explained that this season was a historic celebration. Other iconic players spotted in the trailer included Aubry Bracco, Ozzy Lusth, Joe Hunter, and Kamilla Karthigesu. While there were many players to choose from for Survivor 50, production nailed it with this cast.

Survivor 50 will include celebrity cameos, which some fans aren’t happy about

The cast of Survivor 50 is electric, but viewers are worried about some new twists teased in the trailer. To celebrate the historic season, Jeff Probst declared that the theme of this season would be “In the Hands of the Fans”. Viewers had the opportunity to vote on several aspects of the game, including tribe colors and challenges. However, the trailer revealed new twists that no fans saw coming.

Survivor 50 will feature several celebrity cameos and references, which haven’t been done before on the show. Singer Zac Brown will make an appearance this season, as noted by Rizo Velovic in the trailer. Famous YouTuber MrBeast will also appear for a challenge, which fans were not thrilled to see.

It seems like celebrities will not only make cameos this season, but that they will also influence advantages as well. In the trailer, Christian Hubicki declares, “Jimmy Fallon may decide my fate in this game.” On the other hand, there’s a new advantage called the Billie Eilish Boomerang Idol. Survivor is a classic game, and not all fans are excited to see a season as important as Survivor 50 overrun with celebrity appearances and references.

Despite a few controversial celebrity twists in the trailer, Survivor 50 is still sure to be one for the books. This season will feature the largest cast ever, with 24 players. Each one was handpicked for impacts they’ve made on the game throughout the years, so it’ll surely be special to watch them all come together. Survivor 50 is stacked with an absolutely amazing cast, who will make the season an enjoyable watch regardless of what twists and turns come their way.

Survivor is available to stream on Paramount+.
