New Netflix Reality Show Faces Backlash Before It Even Premieres

What do you get when you put together Southern Florida socialites, unwritten social rules, and free-flowing champagne? A lot of drama, apparently, and a new Netflix reality show. However, not everyone seems to be on board, and netizens are sharing their not-so-thrilled thoughts on the streaming giant’s new show Members Only: Palm Beach.

Members Only: Palm Beach will stream on Netflix

Netflix’s new show is set to premiere on December 29 and will introduce viewers to Florida’s elite. The cast included Hilary Musser, Taja Abitbol, Rosalyn Yellin, Ro-mina Ustayev, and Maria Cozamanis.

The women navigate friendship, rivalries, and social hierarchy in the timeless battle of old versus new money. In the end, the viewers will learn about the unspoken decrees and see who is the true queen of Palm Beach.

But wait, rich lifestyles, a mix of entrepreneurs and married ladies, social hierarchy? Does that sound a bit familiar? Some netizens are comparing the show to the wildly popular Real Housewives series. In fact, The Real Housewives of Miami showcases rich ladies navigating life in Florida, too.

So what do fans think of this upcoming new show? Some are looking forward to the drama. But the backlash online has also been harsh. One netizen wrote, “The Real Housewives of Mar-a-Lago was allegedly a working title.”

Another added, “The Real Housewives meets the Great Value section at Walmart.” Others added that it was a pass and shared that they won’t be tuning in, saying they aren’t a fan of the cast. Some fans aren’t happy with the depiction of Palm Beach. One fan wrote, “This is in no way indicative of Palm Beach. Not even close.”

Other fans said that instead of adding new shows, they want consistency and for Netflix to focus on their previous hits like Bling Empire or Mindhunter. Netflix recently announced their reality show lineup and some shows still remain in ilmbo.

Members Only: Palm Beach hasn’t aired yet, but the backlash is already quite heavy. Time will tell if viewers are going to enjoy the show or give it a pass.

It isn’t the only December show getting heavily mixed reviews from viewers either. Netflix’s latest game show with Neil Patrick Harris, called What’s in the Box? has left many viewers befuddled by the complex rules and gameplay.
