King Charles is apparently desperate to spend more time with his state-side grandchildren. Insiders say the monarch is keen to make amends, but also understands Meghan Markle’s reluctance to return to the U.K. The King is also said to be “proud” of Prince Harry – and for a rather touching reason.
King Charles is ready for a family reunion, according to insiders
Charles is said to be pushing for a deeper relationship with his grandchildren. The King hasn’t seen much of Archie and Lilibet since Harry and Meghan left royal duties in 2020.
Now, he’s said to be keen to have a more active role in their lives. An insider told Radar Online: “This is something that affects him far more than he shows. These are his grandchildren, his own family, and he genuinely wants to spend time with them while he still can.”
Another source added: “Charles is aware he can’t wait indefinitely to build a connection. He takes pride in William and Kate’s children, but it pains him that Archie and Lilibet aren’t part of his everyday life.”
Meghan has reportedly been adamant about keeping the family in the U.S. The family apparently have concerns over safety, with Harry voicing his frustration regarding the removal of their UK state-funded security.
Sources say Charles understands this. One insider revealed: “Charles recognises that Meghan has her reasons for hesitating to bring the children to the U.K. and he isn’t dismissive, but he also believes his estrangement from his grandkids has dragged on too long.”
An insider also noted that the King is “proud” of Harry’s commitment to his family. “Charles sees how proud Harry is of his children and the way his eyes light up when he talks about them,” the source said. “Charles felt the same way when his boys were young, and he still does today, and he’s proud of Harry for being a family man.”
