Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s charity advisor became the next staff member to quit his position after the couple’s publicist. Recently, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the exit of James Holt, the Executive Director of their charity, Archewell Philanthropies.
After working with them for a decade, the top advisor stepped down from his role. This news came after reports of Sussexes’ Chief Communications Officer Meredith Maines’s departure made headlines.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s charity’s top advisor has reportedly stepped down from his role. The Express released the statement of the Sussex couple and James Holt, confirming the latter’s exit. “James has been a stellar support for us for nearly ten years. His enthusiasm and talent in overseeing our philanthropic endeavours have been extraordinary,” the duke and duchess said.
Holt started working for Harry as his PR Chief in 2019 and got promoted in 2021. He was reportedly with the 41-year-old and his wife during their royal exit. The top advisor followed the couple to California and worked under them to date. According to the report, he would return to the UK with his family following his exit.
Holt, too, expressed his gratitude towards the pair in his statement. “Working with Prince Harry and Meghan has been one of the great privileges of my career,” he stated. Furthermore, he called Markle a “kindred spirit” and mentioned their philanthropic work.
Meanwhile, Holt has been a new addition to the staff of the Sussexes, who have put down their papers. Earlier, a report revealed that Markle and Harry’s 11th publicist, Meredith Maines, has stepped down from the duty. While she reportedly quit to explore new opportunities, a source claimed that she left after the Kardashian photo drama.
For the unversed, the “Spare” author and the “Suits” alum attended Kris Jenner’s lavish birthday party last month. Jenner and her daughter, Kim Kardashian, shared a few photos with the couple on Instagram, which were later taken down. Rumors sparked that Markle reportedly demanded the pictures be removed, which allegedly became the “final straw” for the publicist.
