Former reality star Kristin Cavallari revealed her father, Dennis, and his former wife, Nicole King, got into a bad argument about her filming MTV’s Laguna Beach. The podcaster said it was when her stepmom read the application packet that the disagreement began.
Kristin was a main cast member on Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. The reality show, which followed the lives of rich high schoolers in the California county, ran on the network from 2004 to 2006.
Kristin’s dad and stepmom fought over MTV reality show Laguna Beach Season 2

The fashion designer provided details about the fight on the Tuesday, January 6 episode of her podcast, Let’s Be Honest with Kristin Cavallari. “I talked about my stepmom a lot in my [application] packet, and I talked about how I didn’t like her, and she was closer to my age than she was my dad, and which, okay, hi. I know I cannot judge that now, but at the time, I judged it,” she recalled. “And I really, I talked about how much I disliked her.”
Kristin remembers Nicole grabbing the application packet out of her hands as she was filling it out during the casting of the TV show. “Read it, obviously saw what I said about her, and she was p*ssed. Rightfully so. I get it. But she always, because of that, she always had this hate for MTV, this complete disdain.”
When Season 2 rolled around and Kristin was debating on continuing with the show, the arguments became even more heated. “She actually threatened to leave when the second season of Laguna Beach was happening,” she said. “She told my dad that if I did the second season, she was gonna move out. And my dad said, ‘Then get the f*ck out.’ It was a really nasty fight that I witnessed between them.”
Kristen continued, “Anyways — without getting into too much detail about that — so she always hated MTV, and I think kind of hated me because of it.”
