Fans could see three little Sardine tattoos with a bigger and more subtle Sardine tattoo surrounding them. Barrymore then disclosed to the guest actor and the audience members, “They’re for me and my daughters.” She continued, “We’re the three sardines. We go in the bed and that’s our can.” After that, she explained, “But if you can see, there’s like a faint trace of a larger fish encompassing it,” while pointing out the bigger fish tattoo that surrounded the three little sardines.
Barrymore further revealed, “I was in my therapy session and I was like, I think one of the sardines is me as a young girl alongside my young daughters.” The actor and host continued, “and I need to be this fuller, bigger, holding this and holding that space, if you will, for my younger self who I never did anything but demand, demand, demand.” “I think a lot of people are preconditioned to raise themselves and to be a little bit, if not a very mega punitive parent,” the host also added.
