Mary J. Blige Announces Huge Career First She’s ‘Always Wanted To Do’

Mary J. Blige is branching out into a new venture in her music career. The singer-songwriter, often hailed as the “Queen of R&B”, is heading to Las Vegas in this new year.

Mary joins a growing club of artists who have recently participated in Las Vegas residencies. The list includes (but isn’t limited to) Adele, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Mariah Carey, and Lady Gaga. The Mary J. Blige: My Life, My Story, will take place at Dolby Live at Park MGM in May and July.

Mary J. Blige will entertain fans in her first-ever Vegas residency

“I’ve been so excited to announce this Vegas residency,” Mary said in a press statement. “Creating a show like this has been something I’ve always wanted to do.”

“It’s a chance to get my fans together from all over – different cities, states, and countries – to experience something together. My Life, My Story will be just that – with some surprises for my fans that have been there through it all. See you in May!”

The music legend will perform for 10 dates beginning May 1 . After a break in June, the residency will continue July 10th onward, for five more nights.

Of course, this is not Mary’s first experiment in her career. Fans will remember when she became a double Oscar nominee for the 2017 film Mudbound. The star was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, as well as Best Original Song for “River” — becoming the first person to achieve this double nod.

In addition, Mary also scored acting credits on Sherlock Gnomes, The Umbrella Academy, and the Scream TV series. The singer was also a guest judge on season 9 of American Idol in 2010, later serving as a mentor for the reality series in 2012. In 2023, she started her own record label, Beautiful Life productions.
