Ginger Minj Felt RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Was ‘Setup Against Me’

Season 10 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars has been over for months, but you better believe Ginger Minj is still talking about it.

The four-time Drag Race competitor finally won the crown in this latest edition of All Stars, but she got dragged online by fans who claimed it was rigged in her favor. Now, Ginger has shared a totally different side of the story.

In her mind, the competition was actually set up against her. Plot twist!

Ginger Minj knew she had to excel to succeed on RPDR All Stars

As a reminder, All Stars 10 featured a tournament-style twist, with groups of queens competing in three-episode brackets. Fans flooded social media during Ginger’s bracket, arguing that the challenges played directly to her strengths. Sure enough, Ginger won all three episodes in her bracket, advanced to the semi-finals, and ended up taking the entire competition.

With all of that in mind, Ginger recently appeared on Monét Talks with fellow All Stars winner and current Traitors Season 4 star, Monét X Change. During their chat, Ginger explained her side of the story. According to her, she felt like the producers were “trying to get” her.

“When I saw what the breakdown of looks were or when we got there, and they’re telling us what the challenges are, it felt like a setup,” Ginger recalled. “But it felt like a setup against me.”

She continued, “We’re going to do this Wicked design challenge. We’re going to do this music challenge, but it’s country western because if you f*ck this up, then you have no business being here.”

Fans, and allegedly some of the queens in the Werk Room, felt those challenges catered specifically to Ginger’s strengths. Meanwhile, Ginger felt like the Drag Race producers were intentionally trying to set the bar high.

“It felt like these things were assumed to be in my wheelhouse so much that unless I really f*cking nailed it, I wasn’t going to get any credit from it from the fans or RuPaul.”

Fortunately for Ginger, she got plenty of credit from Ru. She won the $200,000 grand prize and a spot in the All Stars Hall of Fame. Whether or not she’s getting any credit from the fans? That’s still up for debate.

RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars is streaming on Paramount+.
