Janet Caperna revealed a shocking health battle in the new year. The Valley star appeared gaunt and lacking energy on social media recently. And she explained the reason during an interview. The reality TV star also admitted that she was not looking to slim down further.
During her time on The Valley, Janet shared the desire to lose weight after welcoming son Cameron in 2023. She achieved prime results on the Season 2 reunion. But after this recent health scare, she doesn’t look or feel her best. The name of the game is recovery and feeling strong again.
Janet Caperna recently suffered from acute gastritis
Janet was diagnosed with acute gastritis and colitis. She revealed to the Daily Mail that she lost nearly 20 pounds in 12 days. Janet also ended up in the hospital twice over the holidays.
“It’s usually set off by something like food poisoning and it was just wreaking havoc on my body,” Janet explained. “It was like my insides were wrung out and it felt like I had hot glass moving through me.”
She experienced uncontrollable vomiting, even after having “a baby sip of water.” She initially believed she had food poisoning. But after “no relief,” Janet had to pursue medical intervention.
“I look sick, so I can’t just start going about my normal life again and not say something, because if I post on Instagram people are gonna be like, ‘Are you okay?”‘ Janet said of her recent appearance.
She added, “I don’t want to glamorize looking like this because I look genuinely ill.”
In a recent Instagram post, Janet shared that it will take “the next few months” for her to build back her strength. The “serious health scare” left her “unable to eat” and in “constant pain.”
While speaking on her podcast, This Side of the Hill, Janet theorized that alcohol and eating “a third of a cheese wheel on Thankgsiving” triggered the event.
“The doctor basically said that my stomach and intestines were inflamed because I’d put something in there that wasn’t sitting well with my body,” she revealed.
