Lamar Odom, former NBA player and ex-husband of Khloé Kardashian, was arrested on Saturday morning in Las Vegas, Nevada. Lamar, who won the 2009 and 2010 championships with the Los Angeles Lakers, was previously arrested in 2013.
The former athlete turned reality star when he began dating Khloé Kardashian in 2009, then a main cast member of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. The pair were granted their own spin-off, Khloé & Lamar, which aired from 2011 to 2012.
Lamar Odom was arrested for DUI
Lamar’s arrest on Saturday was due to DUI (driving under the influence), according to reports obtained by TMZ. The retired NBA star was also issued two traffic violations: driving over 41 miles per hour over the speed limit and making an improper lane change. At the time of TMZ’s report on January 17, the star was still in custody.
Lamar’s previous arrest in August 2013 was also for driving under the influence. At the time of his arrest, the former athlete refused to submit to a chemical test at the scene. In December of that year, the former reality star pleaded no contest to the charges and was sentenced to three years’ probation and three months of alcohol abuse treatment.
That same month, Khloé filed for divorce from Lamar. The two briefly reconciled their relationship when Khloé supported Lamar, after he was hospitalized in 2015 following complications from a drug overdose. Lamar suffered from several strokes, heart attacks, and kidney failure during his health battle.
However, in 2016, Khloe pursued divorce again, and their divorce was finalized in December of that year. Speaking in 2017, Lamar admitted he had cheated death during his health crisis, and was now sober. He also spoke of his regret over his prolonged drug use and infidelity during his marriage to Khloé.
