The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees for 2026 were announced. And the list featured a diverse group of artists. A total of 17 artists were nominated. And, surprisingly, 10 musicians made their debut on the ballot.
The artists represent genres such as rap, metal, and pop. Many of the nominees were popular in the 80s and 90s.
One of the biggest names on the list is pop diva Mariah Carey, although this isn’t her first attempt to get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In addition, Mariah recently sang at the opening of the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Pop Crave posted a list of the confirmed inductee nominees via X, formerly Twitter. The nominees include Mariah, Shakira, Lauryn Hill, Billy Idol, Sade, Wu-Tang Clan, The Black Crowes, and P!nk. Other nominees included on the ballot are Phil Collins, Oasis, Melissa Etheridge, Iron Maiden, Luther Vandross, Joy Division/New Order, INXS, Jeff Buckley, and New Edition.
According to PEOPLE, the inductees for the class of 2026 will be announced in April. In a press release, the Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, John Sykes, stated, “This diverse list of talented nominees recognizes the ever-evolving faces and sounds of Rock & Roll and its continued impact on youth culture.”
He continued, “Induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is music’s highest honor, and we look forward to celebrating the Class of 2026 this Fall.” Musicians are eligible for a Rock Hall nomination 25 years after their first recording is released. Meanwhile, the voting body consists of 1,200 historians, music industry members, and artists.
This is the first time that Shakira has appeared on the ballot. She recently won her 10th Guinness World Record, this time for the highest-grossing tour for Latin performers. Meanwhile, Phil Collins has been in the headlines recently due to some health struggles.
