It has been nearly one month since TODAY show anchor Savannah Guthrie’s beloved mother went missing. Nancy Guthrie, who resides in Arizona, disappeared the night of January 31, 2025. She is the victim of a suspected kidnapping.
This week, Savannah and her family offered a $1 million reward for information leading to her mother’s return. In her Instagram post, Savannah urged anyone with information to come forward. “Someone knows how to find our mom and bring her home. We still believe in a miracle,” Savannah stated. “We still believe that she can come home, hope against hope.”
Savannah Guthrie won’t let tragedy “destroy her career”
Since Savannah has been missing from the TODAY show, her former co-host, Hoda Kotb, has been filling in, working alongside regular co-host Craig Melvin. “At the moment, we’re taking things week by week, day by day,” an insider claimed.
While rumors have swirled that Savannah may not return amid this tragedy, others think otherwise. Rob Shuter was a guest on the podcast The Nerve, and he weighed in on Savannah’s potential return to morning TV. “These stories never made sense to me that she wouldn’t come back. And I know Savannah,” Rob explained. “I’ve hung out with her in a social environment. She’s really ambitious.”
He continued, “You don’t get to be in that chair. You don’t get to start in local TV and work your way up to the TODAY show chair without really wanting it.” He added, “And more importantly, her mom really wanted it, too.”
Plus, Rob noted that if Savannah did decide to leave, “these monsters, these terrorists, I would say, win, and she will not let that happen.” The Hollywood insider added, “They might have destroyed her family. They are not going to destroy her career.”
According to Rob, he has heard from sources that Savannah could return to the TODAY show in “two to three weeks.” Reportedly, Hoda is set to fill in next week.
