King Charles enjoyed a brief getaway to his Sandringham Estate this weekend. But he did not see Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who lives just a short distance away.
To recap, the former prince previously lived at Royal Lodge in Windsor, but he was evicted after being stripped of his royal titles. Since then, things have gone from bad to worse for Andrew.
In February, the ex-Duke of York was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office following his inclusion in the Jeffrey Epstein files. He has always denied any wrongdoing.
King Charles had no plans to meet the former Prince Andrew
On Sunday, March 1, King Charles was photographed attending a service at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham. Fans will be familiar with the location, as it is where the Royal Family gathers for their annual church walk on Christmas Day.
But, despite being within driving distance of his younger brother, PEOPLE understands that Charles did not visit Andrew. Nor did he have any plans to.
Just weeks earlier, Andrew was arrested at his Norfolk property. He had only recently moved into Wood Farm following his eviction from Royal Lodge. After spending 11 hours in police custody, the former prince was released pending further investigation.
During Andrew’s time in custody, the King released an official statement on the scandal.
“I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office,” the monarch said. “What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.
Charles’ statement continued: “In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.”
“As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter,” the monarch added. “Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”
