Shia LaBeouf is making his feelings clear about homosexuals. The Disturbia actor was recently arrested in New Orleans for allegedly starting a brawl. This reportedly took place during Mardi Gras celebrations. He was said to have made some controversial gay slurs while in handcuffs.
In a new interview, Shia said that “big gay people are scary to me.” He notes that he feels uncomfortable if several gay people come up to him, touching his leg. “If that’s homophobic, then I’m that. Yeah,” Shia declared. It’s unclear if he was directly referencing the incident he’s allegedly implicated in or not. Shia moved from Los Angeles to New Orleans last December.

Someone’s sexuality apparently doesn’t bother Shia, so long as they aren’t coming on to him. That seems to be his message following his arrest. In his Channel 5 interview with Andrew Callaghan, the actor says, “I’m good with gay — be gay over there, though.”
The incident last month has Shia facing two charges of simple battery. His arrest and charges are yet another bad look for him. He has been throughout countless legal issues over the years for alleged harassment, abuse and disorderly conduct, among other things. He’d also previously been arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness in 2017. He allegedly uttered racist slurs to police as he was being booked.
Less than an hour after appearing in court on his simple battery charges, Shia was seen eating a burger and fries at a restaurant in the Big Easy. He appeared cheery while taking selfies with others and seemingly in a good mood, as if everything was fine. Meanwhile he had reportedly been behaving erratically while on the set of the film The Rooster Prince in the months prior to his arrest.
He and Mia Goth recently separated. The two had been married since 2016, and they broke up last year. Following news of his alleged conduct in New Orleans, Mia allegedly wanted Shia to go to rehab. He had previously undergone the diversion program.
