Married to Medicine’s Dr. Heavenly Kimes Qualified To Run for Congress

It’s all happening. Dr. Heavenly Kimes from Married to Medicine is on the ballot for this year’s election. She just announced that she’s officially qualified to run for Congress. She hopes to represent Georgia’s 13th congressional district in the House of Representatives, and she just got one step closer to making that a reality.

Dr. Heavenly Kimes has taken her next political step

Season 12 of Married to Medicine has closely followed Heavenly’s political journey. At the time of filming, she was running for state representative. After the cameras went down, she switched her objective and decided to run for a national seat.

On Wednesday, March 4, she submitted paperwork to officially get her name on the ballot. It doesn’t matter what Toya Bush-Harris or any of the other M2M cast-members have to say about it. This campaign is moving forward, and Heavenly addressed her supporters after submitting her paperwork.

“I will be more than a vote for the people, I will be a voice for the people,” Heavenly told her fellow Georgians, flanked by husband Dr. Damon Kimes and their kids.

“We’re looking for change. People are frustrated,” she continued. “We need to get up, get out, and vote. I will be that change.”

According to Heavenly, the pillars of her platform are “affordability, healthcare for ALL, and education.” Those are issues that everyone should be able to get behind, but this campaign might not be a walk in the park. She’s trying to unseat a ten-term incumbent congressman named David Scott.

David has been in office longer than Heavenly’s daughter has been alive, and as the election heats up, Heavenly has become increasingly critical of him. Last week, for example, she shared a photo on Instagram of him literally sleeping through Donald Trump’s State of the Union Address. Next week, she might pull out a “yo mama” comment at him. You never know.

Married to Medicine airs on Sundays at 9/8c on Bravo. You can stream it the next day on Peacock.
