Timothée Chalamet didn’t win the Best Actor award for Marty Supreme at the 2026 Oscars. Early on, he was considered the favorite to win the category. But the main event told a different story, as Michael B. Jordan took home the victory for his dual performance in Sinners. Chalamet recently also made headlines for his controversial take on ballet and opera.
Timothée Chalamet receives no Oscars this year
Timothée Chalamet was nominated for the Best Actor category for Marty Supreme. Notably, the movie received a total of nine nominations. However, the film won no awards at the prestigious event, leaving many shocked. His snub followed his comments on ballet and opera from an interview at the University of Texas. At the Oscars, he was also mocked for his controversial comments several times. For instance, Conan O’Brien said in his monologue, referring to Chalamet’s remarks on both art forms, “Security is extremely tight tonight. I’m told there’s concerns about attacks from both the opera and ballet communities.”
Chalamet also reflected on how to keep the magic of cinema alive during the same interview. “I admire people, and I’ve done it myself, who go on a talk show and go, ‘Hey, we gotta keep movie theaters alive. You know, we gotta keep this genre alive. And another part of me feels like, if people want to see it, like Barbie, like Oppenheimer, they’re going to go see it and go out of their way to be loud and proud about it.”
However, his comments about ballet and opera sparked widespread criticism. He said, ” And I don’t want to be working in ballet or opera, or you know, things where it’s like, ‘Hey, keep this thing alive,’ even though it’s like, no one cares about this anymore.”
