These 2 Royals Definitely Won’t Be at Prince Harry’s Big Event — Expert

Prince Harry faced fresh questions this week about who might support him at the 2027 Invictus Games. According to a new report, a royal expert suggested the answer may be far narrower than Harry hoped.

The discussion centered on Birmingham’s role as the next host city and what that return could mean. While the Duke founded Invictus in 2014, the latest forecast suggested some senior royals were already unlikely to appear beside him.

Prince William and Queen Camilla definitely won’t attend Invictus, claims expert

Prince Harry’s 2027 Invictus Games plans in Birmingham were discussed on A Right Royal Podcast, where The Sun’s royal editor Matt Wilkinson weighed in on likely royal attendance. As per Hello Magazine, he said Invictus was “a big event for Harry.” He also claimed Birmingham was always the likely destination. Wilkinson then said the Duke wanted “to bring his whole family down here” and hoped to sit with the Royal Family in the stands. However, he quickly called that idea “very optimistic.”

Harry’s event has deep personal meaning because he founded the international competition in 2014 for wounded, sick, and injured service personnel. Notably, King Charles attended the inaugural London Games that year. Since then, the tournament has traveled to Orlando, Toronto, Sydney, The Hague, Düsseldorf, and Vancouver Whistler. Even so, Wilkinson said the current picture looked very different. Looking ahead to next summer, he said, “I don’t think the King will go to Invictus.” Then he made the forecast sharper, adding, “William definitely won’t. Camilla definitely won’t.”

Meanwhile, the same report suggested other public figures could still attend in place of senior royals. Wilkinson said Prince Harry might see “the Defence Secretary there, the Prime Minister,” but not the monarch. That distinction mattered because the Games remain one of the Duke’s biggest legacy projects. The outlet also noted that he was due back in Britain in July for a one-year-to-go event before the competition. Meghan Markle has often joined him at past editions.

Still, her presence in Birmingham this year was not guaranteed. So, for now, the expectation around Prince Harry’s major event seemed focused less on a royal reunion and more on which public leaders might show up instead.
