Actor Josh Duhamel opened up about his past marriage to pop superstar Fergie and how her fame caused him insecurities at the time.
Speaking in an interview with conservative broadcaster Megyn Kelly, Josh revealed how ego played a role in the ending of his 10-year marriage to the former Black Eyed Peas member. Now remarried, the former model spoke about where he went wrong in his past relationship. Later, he discussed where he and Fergie stand today.
Fergie’s “massive” fame left her ex-husband feeling some sort of way
“It was a huge shift because she was a massive star at the time and so it was a big adjustment for me, if I’m being honest,” Josh revealed in Wednesday’s episode of the Megyn Kelly Show.
Later, the All My Children star revealed he and his then-wife struggled over Duhamel “whose star was bigger.”
“It’s probably my own ego more than anything,” he told the podcast host. “I don’t think it bugged her as much as it probably did me. But she was a massive star at the time!” he spilled. Additionally, he said he felt like he was “in her shadow a lot of the time.”
However, he said Fergie didn’t instigate any tension in this area, “Fergie is a very normal person, at the end of the day,” he added. “A good mom. “
Fergie and Josh were married from 2009 to 2019, having separated in 2017. They share a son, named Axl. Additionally, Josh spoke about co-parenting with his ex, and how the former couple get on now, since he married model Audra Mari in 2022.
“We parent our son, Axl. She’s a great mom,” Josh said. “I’m extremely happily married now to my wife, Audra. We have a beautiful son and a little girl on the way. [Audra and Fergie] have a great relationship, which is what I really care about.”
