Rhode Island Congressman Plans RHORI Watch Party for Bravo Premiere

Amid the U.S. partial government shutdown, one Congressman has decided to make lemonade from lemons and have a party.

Rep. Seth Magaziner of Rhode Island, is planning a watch party to celebrate the newest addition to the Housewives universe. On Thursday, April 2, he and his guests will be watching the premiere of The Real Housewives of Rhode Island.

Co-hosting the evening alongside Rep. Magaziner will be Rhode Island State Rep. Jackie Baginski and State Sen. Hanna Gallo. The evening will feature hors d’oeuvres, specialty cocktails and door prizes.

Meanwhile, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers have been working without pay for weeks. Airport lines have stretched for hours due to many of them calling in “sick” rather than working without pay.

Fortunately, the Senate finally agreed to a partial funding of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Friday, March 27. However, Speaker of the House House Mike Johnson shot it down and refused to call a vote until Congress returns from break.

Technically, the break is a “district work period.” Members of Congress are theoretically supposed to use the time off to interact with their constituents back in their home districts. While a Housewives party isn’t exactly a town hall, you can’t blame the residents of our tiniest state for having a little hometown pride.

Though some think partying isn’t a great look while TSA workers are suffering, Rep. Magaziner and his co-hosts didn’t send everyone home. It was the Speaker who nixed the deal to generate TSA paychecks. And Rhode Island is kind of overlooked by a lot of the country.

It’s not every day residents get the chance to see their state on a national TV show, so why not celebrate?

The Real Housewives of Rhode Island premieres Thursday, April 2 on Bravo. It will stream on Peacock the following day.
