The Valley’s Janet Caperna Talks Being an ‘Outspoken’ Liberal: ‘We Care About Human Rights’

The Valley is back for a third season. Janet Caperna and her husband, Jason Caperna are joining their friend group for another round of partying, fun, and of course, conflict.

On the season premiere, Janet revealed that her feud with Kristen Doute is unresolved. The bad feelings stemmed from a massive fight in which the mother-of-one accused Danny Booko of sexual assault. Kristen is very close with his wife, Nia Sanchez, it was unsurprising that Kristen defended her so fiercly. A percentage of viewers turned on Janet. Some called for her to be cut from the Season 3 cast. Now, Janet has a message for the haters.

Jason Caperna thinks it’s “impossible” to be liked by everybody

It’s not clear what question Us Weekly posed to get this response. But presumably The Valley couple were asked to comment about their popularity tanking towards the end of Season 2. It was perceived that the couple relentlessly attacked Danny for alleged problems with alcohol.

“Jason and I are both very liberal people. And we’re very outspoken about politics and things like that. I think there are a lot of people that are never going to like us or agree with us because of our stance on a lot of issues. And how much we care about human rights, and minorities, and people,” Janet said.

She continued, “So there’s just certain people that aren’t going to align with those values. And I think you just kind of have to let that go and care less about what everybody thinks and really care about the friends and family closest to us. The people that we respect and care about. Do they agree with our actions? And if that’s a yes, then we’ere ok by that. We don’t have to be liked by everybody.”

Jason further chimed in, “It’s actually impossible to be liked by everybody. I’m sure that if Gandhi was alive he’d have a lot of haters. Not saying that we’re Gandhis. I’m just going to an extreme example.”

Consequently, perhaps the Capernas will make a different impression this season. It’s interesting that they are equating criticism as a political issue. Certainly, it’s also worth noting how public opinion can shift on a dime.

Catch The Valley Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo. It also streams on Peacock.
