Justin Timberlake reportedly faced a new problem involving ex-Britney Spears as her memoir moved closer to the screen. As per a new claim, the former boy band star remained irritated by how their past could be retold, especially if a major studio movie turned him into the clearest villain in her story.
The concern centered on the planned adaptation of “The Woman in Me.” That project had already moved into development after a rights deal. Now, the latest claim said the singer felt the film could reopen old damage tied to Spears and revive a version of events he still disliked.
Justin Timberlake is annoyed with Britney Spears’ memoir plans, claims source
As per RadarOnline, Justin Timberlake was still upset about how Britney Spears’ story framed him. One source said, “Justin continues to be annoyed with being painted as the villain in Britney’s book.” The insider then added that she planned “to paint him that way in the musical biopic.” That placed the tension on the next stage of the memoir, not just the book itself. In turn, the reported problem was no longer limited to publishing. It was now about a movie audience.
Meanwhile, the same report said the project had real studio backing behind it. RadarOnline noted that Universal secured the film rights to “The Woman in Me” in August 2024. It also said Jon M. Chu was attached to direct the early-stage biopic. According to the insider, “Britney told the truth in her book, so Justin can’t sue,” but that did not mean he wanted “his name dragged through the mud in every multiplex on the planet.” The report then claimed he was using “soft power” to show his displeasure. However, the source also said people still wanted “to see this story.”
Then, the article suggested the film would keep moving despite Timberlake’s frustration. Another source said studio bosses were “long-term thinkers” and could handle Spears’ recent problems while developing the movie. The same insider added, “They’re willing to spend millions to tell her story.” That source stressed there was “no getting around” her love life in a film about her fame and music. Finally, the report summed up Timberlake’s mood in sharper terms. “Justin is seething over this,” the insider said. Still, they added, “he can’t stop Britney from telling the world about her real-life experiences.”
