Ex-Prince Andrew Always ‘Detested’ This in King Charles — Author

King Charles reportedly kept his distance from ex-Prince Andrew for reasons that went back years. As per a new claim, the split between the brothers was never just about recent events. Instead, it reflected older resentment, status anxiety, and a belief that Andrew had long seen himself as the stronger fit for the crown.

That context sharpened after Prince Edward and Princess Anne reportedly checked in on Andrew. The monarch’s silence then stood out even more. It suggested the family contact was not a thaw, but a sign that King Charles had already drawn his own line.

Ex-Prince Andrew detested King Charles before he became king, claims author

As per the Daily Mail report, biographer Andrew Lownie said ex-Prince Andrew carried a deep resentment toward his older brother. Lownie said Andrew believed he should have been next in line to the throne. He then claimed Andrew had “a long-standing hatred” of Charles. The biographer added that Andrew saw him as “weak.” Lownie also said Andrew “detested the attention and adulation Charles received as the future king.” In that telling, the problem was not new. It started long before Charles took the throne.

Meanwhile, the same report said recent welfare checks from siblings Edward and Anne did not reflect a broader royal reset. Instead, they reportedly came from concern over Andrew’s isolation and state of mind. One insider said, “Edward and Anne are worried.” The same source added, “They’re family, first and foremost.” Then came the main reason for their outreach. “They don’t want to see him completely cut off,” the insider said. That detail mattered because it framed the contact as a family concern, not a shift in royal policy.

However, the article said King Charles stayed in a very different position. It noted that some might see his approach as hard, while others would see necessary discipline. The report said, “For Charles, the Crown comes first.” It added that this had “always” been the case. It then argued he wanted to leave the institution in the best possible state for Prince William. That was why, even after Anne and Edward reached out, the silence held. According to insiders, that contact was “not the beginning of a thaw.” Instead, it showed that King Charles had drawn “a line in the sand” with former Prince Andrew.
