Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s transformation in ‘Werwulf’ footage at CinemaCon has got the fans talking
Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s transformation in Robert Eggers’ Werwulf footage shown at CinemaCon has piqued fans’ interest. Eggers has penned the script with co-writer Sjon. The makers presented the first look at the 13th-century werewolf tale at the annual event.
Johnson has teamed up with his Nosferatu co-star Lily-Rose Depp alongside Willem Dafoe and Ralph Ineson for the upcoming movie. The 35-year-old stars as the protagonist lycanthrope. As per Variety, Johnson appears naked in the footage screened at CinemaCon. He shakes violently and transforms into a werewolf. Although the film will release on December 25, it seems like the makers are leaving no stone unturned to set the ground for the film’s promotion.
Fans who caught a glimpse of Johnson’s dramatic transformation only had kind words of praise for him. One fan commented, “Robert Eggers WERWULF stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Lily-Rose Depp. The film looks and feels very dark, and Taylor-Johnson does transform, and it’s exactly as brutal as you think!”
A second fan wrote, “Werwulf looks more insane than Nosferatu. The things Aaron Taylor-Johnson is doing are unreal. The visuals from beautiful nightfall lit by candle/fire to the sweeping moon visuals and the overwhelming score, are all in Academy ratio… Eggheads we are so UP. Werwulf is going to be unreal.”
Known scooper Jeff Sneider penned, “Robert Eggers’ WERWULF definitely looks like a Robert Eggers movie. Getting heavy THE WITCH vibes from this one. It felt dark and grimy… word spreading of a raving beast that has ravaged its own countryside. Stunning visuals, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson looks intense.”
A fourth fan remarked, “Cool, suitably creepy trailer shown for Robert Eggers’ Werwulf. It concludes with Aaron Taylor-Johnson frothing at the mouth, presumably about to wolf out.”
