Donald Trump has seemingly set his eyes on New York Penn Station, with the intention of renaming it after himself. Recent reports indicate that Trump wants to add the iconic Penn Station to the long list of establishments that have shed their old moniker to bear the president’s name, and even held a secret meeting with the Madison Square Garden (MSG) owner to further his goal.
Donald Trump reportedly had secret meeting with MSG owner
According to a recent account, the two-time President appears to have met with Madison Square Garden boss James Dolan in private last week to discuss changing the name of Penn Station.
Per Page Six, Dolan’s representatives have yet to officially confirm the businessman’s sit-down with Donald Trump. However, White House Spokesman Davis Ingle’s statement on the matter strongly suggests that the meeting did take place.
“President Trump is focused on saving our country – not garnering recognition,” Ingle noted. “While we don’t comment on private meetings that may or may not have happened, President Trump undoubtedly supports a strong and revitalized Penn Station that can better serve New York and New Yorkers.”
The President has reportedly been trying to alter the 34th Street hub’s name for some time now. In March, New York Governor Kathy Hochul scoffed at the idea of renaming the Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station after Donald Trump and stated, “Over my dead body.”
As per another report by the outlet, Hochul had even rejected the proposal in a similar fashion in 2025, but quipped that she would consider changing the name if Trump were to pledge around $7 billion for the train junction’s renovations.
If successful, this won’t be the first time that Trump has modified an establishment’s title by slapping his own name on it. Most recently, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill to change the moniker of Palm Beach International Airport, officially renaming it to President Donald J. Trump International Airport.
