Elon Musk Reveals ‘Fix’ for Unemployment Caused By AI

As conversations around artificial intelligence continue to intensify, concerns about job loss and economic disruption are becoming harder to ignore. This is a harsh truth that people are now facing globally. But, it genuinely seems like Elon Musk has recently taken it upon himself to weigh in on what he believes could be a long-term solution to mass unemployment, which undeniably happens to be one of AI’s biggest challenges.

Elon Musk shares his solution to resolve AI unemployment

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk recently took to X (formerly Twitter) and addressed the natter of mass unemployment caused by artificial intelligence. He posted, “Universal HIGH INCOME via checks issued by the Federal government is the best way to deal with unemployment caused by AI.”

Musk’s idea builds on the concept of universal basic income but pushes it a step further. Instead of a minimal safety net, he is proposing a system in which people receive significantly higher financial support.

This would be funded at a national level to offset the economic disruption caused by automation. Musk also further explained in his post, “AI/robotics will produce goods & services far in excess of the increase in the money supply, so there will not be inflation.”

In other words, the productivity of AI and robotics would outpace traditional economic constraints. That way, it would allow a proper distribution of wealth without triggering inflation. In Musk’s opinion, it could be an effective method to help everyone.

Musk has long been vocal about both the potential and the risks of artificial intelligence. He has repeatedly warned about the societal risks associated with such advancements. Whether “universal high income,” as put across by Elon Musk in his latest post, is a realistic solution or an idealistic proposal remains up for debate. But as AI continues to reshape the way we work, questions like these are no longer hypothetical; they’re undoubtedly becoming a proper need.
