After learning about the potential live-action adaptation of the video game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Charlie Cox had a pitch to make. He believes Robert Pattinson could be the perfect actor to play Gustave. He also sees himself playing a part, just not on-screen.
Charlie Cox thinks Robert Pattinson is perfect for potential Clair Obscur film
Sandfall Interactive’s Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was one of the biggest games of 2025 that took the industry by storm. Daredevil actor Charlie Cox famously voiced Gustave, one of the lead characters in the game. He recently attended the Bafta Games Awards 2026, where Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 won three awards, including Best Game.
Ahead of the show, on the red carpet, the MCU actor addressed the news about the live-action adaptation of the game. The interviewer asked Cox if he would like to portray Gustave in the potential film. In response, the actor said, “I heard that Glen Powell wants it. I think the financiers might prefer Glen. Maybe I can have a smaller role.”
However, the actor went on to explain who would be perfect to play the character instead. “Here’s what I think should happen,” The Defenders actor continued. “They should cast Robert Pattinson as Gustave because he looks like him. Then I should do the voice, and we can recreate the exact Gustave from the game,” he explained. “I wonder how Rob would feel about me voicing it. But hey, we could cross that bridge when we get to it,” Cox shared.
Notably, ever since the game was released a year ago, gamers have often noted Gustave’s likeness to the Batman actor. While the developers have never said they used Pattinson’s likeness, it has become a hot topic in the community.
Even before the game launched, Story Kitchen announced that they are collaborating with Sandfall Interactive to produce the live-action film. However, there has been very little official information on the release timeline or even the cast. So, fans of the game may have to wait for a while before the film actually materializes.
