Hulk Hogan’s Final Interview Reveals Rock-Bottom Moment

Hulk Hogan‘s final interview before his death delved into a significant, disturbing moment in his personal life. The Netflix documentary Hulk Hogan: Real American, which pulls back the curtain on the iconic wrestler’s tumultuous personal life, reveals a moment when he felt so overwhelmed by the deteriorating marriage that he did something drastic.

Hogan passed away from a heart attack in July 2025 at the age of 71, around two weeks before what would have been his 72nd birthday in August.

Towards the end of Hulk Hogan: Real American, the late wrestler recalled a point in his crumbling marriage where he contemplated killing himself. Notably, around this time, he had his family star alongside him in the VH1 reality series, Hogan Knows Best. Unfortunately, this endeavor, which he hoped would bring his family closer, only worsened the existing troubles.

Hogan revealed that one day he went home, started drinking, and consuming pills. He added that he mentally spiraled for the next several days before finding himself in the bathroom with a gun in his mouth and realizing he wasn’t in control of himself.

“I hit rock bottom,” the six-time WWE/WWF champion recalled. He added that he handed over 70% of his property to his ex-wife, Linda Claridge, as he didn’t want to be with or contact her again.

“So, I gave her everything to get rid of her, and after the divorce, I had no money,” he further recalled. “I was broke, and so TNA [Total Nonstop Action Wrestling] saved me (via Parade).”

Wrestling executive and a close friend of Hogan’s, Eric Bischoff, also offered insight, confirming that Hogan was struggling a lot following the collapse of his marriage. “He was down, and he was hurting,” Bischoff shared. “He was in the darkest, most devastating part of his life (via Open).”

Also in the documentary, Hogan admitted that the happiest time of his life was during the early years of his marriage to Claridge and when their children — Brooke and Nick — were young.

Meanwhile, Linda, who also featured in the documentary, revealed she loved and still loves her ex-husband despite the termination of their marriage, stressing her feelings never dissipated, which she realized after he became sick.
