JD Vance’s Trip for Iran Peace talks on Hold — Report

JD Vance‘s trip to Islamabad, leading the delegation for peace talks with Iran, has been put on hold indefinitely. The uncertainty regarding further negotiations looms amid Donald Trump’s recent extension of the ceasefire deal.

JD Vance’s trip to Pakistan put on hold, claims report

JD Vance‘s planned trip to Islamabad, Pakistan, has been postponed indefinitely after being delayed, The New York Times has reported. The update comes after Iran refused to participate in new rounds of peace negotiations. According to Iran’s IRGC-affiliated Tasnim news agency, Tehran has reportedly notified the U.S. via Pakistani mediators that its delegation will not be attending Wednesday’s talks.

Meanwhile, Trump extended the ceasefire deal with Iran on Tuesday, just a day ahead of its initial expiration deadline. The President has not announced an official end date, stating that the ceasefire will be extended “until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal.”

The ceasefire extension comes despite Trump previously stating that he did not want to do so. Speaking with CNBC’s “Squawk Box” just hours before announcing the extension, the President said, “We don’t have that much time because by the time both parties get there, you know, they just got the okay to go forward, which I knew they were going to do anyway.”

He added, “They have to negotiate. And you know, the one thing I’ll say is this. Iran can get themselves on a very good footing if they make a deal. They can make themselves into a strong nation again, a wonderful nation again.”

Later in the interview, when he is asked if he will resume bombing if no prospect of a signed deal arrives by today or tomorrow, Trump stated, “Well, I expect to be bombing because I think that’s a better attitude to go in with.” He added, “But we’re ready to go. I mean, the military is raring to go. They are absolutely incredible.”
