Iran is reportedly planning to strike the US military in Europe after Donald Trump‘s post about the Strait of Hormuz. This follows Trump’s statement that there will be no extension of the 60-day ceasefire agreement with Iran over the waterway after it failed to produce favorable results.
Iran is reportedly threatening US military in Europe
According to The Financial Times, insiders claimed Iran is reportedly planning to attack the US military bases in Europe after Donald Trump’s latest post. They also suggest the alleged plan may have resulted from failed talks between the two countries over reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Insiders told the outlet that Iran might be looking to target US bases in Bulgaria and Cyprus. The move will reportedly become a form of escalation by Iran. This comes after Trump posted a map of the Strait of Hormuz on Truth Social, labelling it “new US territory.”
Apart from that, according to a report by The Independent, Trump made a similar claim at a political gathering. He said, “Pretty soon, I’ll be declaring the Hormuz Strait a territory of the United States.” When asked about the statement during an interaction with reporters at the Oval Office, Trump said the US controls the waterway and its blockade. Thus, he is fond of the idea of declaring it a territory.
Previously, an Iranian official also told Reuters that the country might go “fully offensive” against the US after the talks to end their conflict failed. He stated, “Iranian entities must be prepared to escalate tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and wider region.” The official continued that “Iran will be ready to make decisions and take action on difficult decisions.” Trump made another post on Truth Social confirming that “there are no talks or conversations going on, or scheduled, with Iran.”
