Robert Irwin Will Host Dancing with the Stars Spinoff, DWTS: The Next Pro

We’re about to be blessed with more Robert Irwin on our screens. A first-of-its-kind Dancing with the Stars spinoff is bringing the Season 34 winner back to television, but in a much different way. He’s hosting Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro, and as the title suggests, he’s going to be helping the long-running ABC series find its newest professional dancer.

Dancers will compete for a spot as the next DWTS pro

Hulu just hosted the second annual Get Real House event, where they dropped a ton of reality TV news. The event gave us our first look at the DWTS Season 35 cast, a new Secret Lives of Mormon Wives spinoff, and a whole lot more. Robert’s new show, DWTS: The Next Pro, was included in the huge slate of announcements.

The Next Pro is a competition series with 12 up-and-coming dancers battling it out for their spot in the DWTS pro lineup. One person will walk away with a job on Season 35.

With such a coveted position on the line, the producers aren’t making this easy on the dancers. Not only do they have to show off their dance skills, but they also have to live together in a house, according to Hulu’s synopsis. That means we’re going to get some fierce dancing and possibly a little bit of drama.

DWTS pro Mark Ballas and his mom, Shirley Ballas, will serve as judges on the upcoming series. A rotating lineup of DWTS pros will join them on the judges’ panel throughout the season.

DWTS: The Next Pro kicks off this summer and will lead directly into DWTS Season 35. ABC has already confirmed Maura Higgins and Ciara Miller as the first two stars of the cast. There’s a buzz in the air, and DWTS fans have a lot to look forward to this year.

Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro premieres on Monday, July 13, on ABC. Episodes will stream on Hulu the following day.
