Anne Hathaway’s Sheer Iris Van Herpen Cutout Gown Is Almost All Strings

It’s been a packed fashion week for Anne Hathaway, and she’s showing no signs of slowing down. Between appearances for ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ and now her ‘Mother Mary’ promotions, the actor is delivering one standout look after another, each pushing her style in a more experimental direction.

Anne Hathaway goes bold in fully sheer Iris Van Herpen gown with endless cutouts for ‘Mother Mary’

For a special London screening of ‘Mother Mary,’ Anne Hathaway leaned fully into couture craftsmanship, stepping out in a striking Iris Van Herpen creation that felt equal parts futuristic and intricate. The gown, pulled from the designer’s Spring/Summer 2020 couture collection, was the opening look from the Paris show.

The dress itself was a masterclass in construction. As noted by Harper’s Bazaar, it was made from delicate, laser-cut leather elements. The design formed a web-like structure across the body, creating the illusion of a barely-there silhouette. The high-neck corset bodice wrapped around her torso with connected detailing, while sheer sections and strategic cutouts revealed glimpses of her skin beneath. It is the kind of piece that demands confidence, and Hathaway wore it with ease.

From the waist down, the look softened into movement. ‘Billowing pleated sleeves’ extended from the shoulders. This blended into a long, flowing skirt that added volume and contrast to the structured top. Beneath the dress, she wore matching cut-out heels that subtly echoed the dress’s design language, tying the entire look together.

Her styling remained intentionally minimal, letting the gown do all the talking. Hathaway opted for tiny gold hoop earrings, keeping her accessories understated. Her hair was styled in a half-up, half-down ponytail, adding a relaxed touch that balanced the complexity of the outfit. Lastly, her makeup stayed soft, highlighting her natural features. Her outfit was a bold yet artistic choice. In fact, it was proof that Hathaway’s current fashion run is one of her most adventurous ones yet.
