Donald Trump addressed growing questions about the timeline for the U.S.-Iran conflict ahead of what could be a critical juncture in the war. The president took to Truth Social to push back on media narratives suggesting he feels pressure to reach a resolution quickly.
Donald Trump posts about Iran on Truth Social
President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social on Thursday, claiming he feels no urgency to resolve the ongoing conflict with Iran. Trump wrote he is “possibly the least pressured person ever to be in this position.” He added that he has “all the time in the World, but Iran doesn’t.”
The post came as the U.S.-Iran conflict approaches the two-month mark with no scheduled peace talks. Trump extended the ceasefire indefinitely earlier this week but maintained a blockade on Iranian shipping. Tehran has paused negotiations until the U.S. lifts the blockade on the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump used the post to highlight the damage U.S. forces have inflicted on Iran’s military capabilities. He claimed, “Iran’s Navy is lying at the bottom of the Sea, their Air Force is demolished.” He also stated that Iran’s “Anti Aircraft and Radar Weaponry is gone” and “their leaders are no longer with us.”
The president addressed media coverage of the conflict in the same post. He accused outlets of losing credibility and said they are “doing so poorly with Subscribers and Viewers.” Trump also criticised The New York Times and CNN by name in the post.
Trump signalled that any agreement would come on his terms and timeline. He wrote that “a Deal will only be made when it’s appropriate and good for the United States of America.” He extended that standard to U.S. allies and “the rest of the World.”
The post arrived hours after Trump ordered the Navy to “shoot and kill” Iranian boats, still placing mines in the strait. He also directed minesweeping operations to continue “at a tripled-up level.” Gas prices remain elevated as roughly 20 percent of global oil passes through the contested waterway.
