Stephen Curry Had This Reaction When Asked to ‘Trash Talk’ Barack Obama

Stephen Curry recently found himself put on the spot by a prompt that could have easily gone sideways. During a lighthearted segment, he was challenged to engage in classic trash talk. The twist was that his target was former U.S. President Barack Obama. When urged to take a jab, the Warriors’ point guard let his reaction speak for itself.

Stephen Curry was once dared to ‘trash talk’ Barack Obama and this was his reaction

Stephen Curry has never shied from a challenge, but when he was dared to unleash his trash talk on Barack Obama, the moment took an unexpected turn. With the relaunch of PLEZi, the hydration beverage they co-founded with Michelle Obama, Steph Curry, and Ayesha Curry, is making headlines. Speaking to PEOPLE, the restaurateur shared that the NBA star chickened out of trash-talking Barack Obama on the golf course. This happened even after Michelle Obama urged him to go for it.

In September 2016, Stephen Curry and Michelle Obama appeared on The Ellen Show, where the former FLOTUS encouraged him to talk back to her husband. She even playfully suggested teasing him about his ears. Nearly a decade later, the celebrated player prefers not to say whether he ever took her advice.

“I’ll plead the fifth on whether or not I did,” he told PEOPLE, as Ayesha Curry joked. “I don’t think you had it in you.” The basketball pro further shared that the Currys and Obamas grew close years ago after spending time together in Martha’s Vineyard. The 38-year-old said that they played golf with Barack Obama in Martha’s Vineyard one year and spent more time with both him and Michelle Obama. He added that it never feels normal to say you’re friends with the former president and his wife.

The Currys told PEOPLE that Barack and Michelle Obama are very normal in real life. When the former First Lady approached them about partnering with PLEZi, they were unsure at first. The couple only came on board after realizing that their kids loved the product.
