Jurassic Park’s Sam Neill Teases Acting Return Amid Health Update

Jurassic Park star Sam Neill has shared a major personal update that’s both emotional and hopeful. The veteran actor, known worldwide for his iconic roles, revealed he has overcome a serious health battle and is already thinking about stepping back into acting.

Sam Neill confirmed he is now cancer-free after battling a rare form of blood cancer for nearly five years. The actor revealed to 7 News he had been living with lymphoma and undergoing chemotherapy, calling it a “pretty miserable business” that kept him going for a long time. At one point, though, the treatment stopped working, and things looked uncertain. “It looked like I was on the way out,” he admitted.

Everything changed after he received a newer form of treatment known as CAR T-cell therapy. The advanced procedure modifies the body’s immune cells to fight cancer more effectively. Neill shared that recent scans showed no trace of the disease. “There is no cancer in my body… that’s an extraordinary thing,” he said, adding that he feels “very, very excited” about the outcome.

With his health improving, Neill is already looking ahead. He hinted at a return to acting, saying, “It’s time I did another movie.” The actor also wants wider access to the treatment that helped him, especially in Australia, where it is still limited to clinical trials. His experience has turned him into a vocal supporter of expanding access to such therapies.

Neill first went public with his diagnosis in 2023 after falling ill during promotions for Jurassic World Dominion. He had returned as Dr. Alan Grant, reuniting with costars Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum. The franchise, which began with Jurassic Park, remains one of his most recognized works.

Beyond dinosaurs, Neill has built a wide-ranging career with films like The Piano and Hunt for the Wilderpeople. He has earned multiple awards and nominations over the years, gaining respect for both mainstream hits and critically acclaimed roles.
