Actress Emily Blunt Facing Online Bashing After Questionable Advice For Women; Fans Calling Her ‘Entitled’

Emily Blunt might want to cross off career counsellor from her list of backup plans. The British actress is being slammed for a not-so-sound recommendation to women. She suggested walking away from any work one doesn’t like. She adds that even if you aren’t making money in another line of work, but you love it, stick with it.

Online, many didn’t think Emily’s words were particularly inspiring. The actress was labelled by one fan as an “entitled” person for her advice. Her words came during an event ahead of the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2. She’ll reprise her role as Emily Charlton in that film franchise.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 star is being slammed for telling women to “quit” their jobs

Any women who aren’t happy with their current jobs should “quit.” That advice from Emily during an interview on the Betches YouTube channel. To be clear, her entire quote was “Quit… no” with the last part said quietly under her breath. She did go on to laugh it off before saying women should “find something that you deeply want to do.” “Even if you’re earning no money, as long as you love it, you’ll be happy,” she goes on to say.

Even if she meant it in good humor it’s not the way many are interpreting her words online. Many find it easy for her to say these things, given how well off she appears to be financially. When she’s out and about, she is often sporting some very expensive clothing. In January, Emily caught people’s attention with a bandeau top and a cropped jacket valued at nearly $8,000.

In The Devil Wears Prada sequel, her character has moved up from Miranda Priestly’s assistant to senior executive at Dior. Emily said in a recent interview that she adores playing this “unhinged” character. She admits her character is a little deranged but says that’s part of the excitement. The Devil Wears Prada 2 comes out in theatres on Friday.
