Kristin Davis is weighing in on an online debate surrounding Sex and the City. Younger generations are seeing the popular show, which originally ran for six seasons. Many of those fans have labelled Sarah Jessica Parker’s character, Carrie Bradshaw, as self-centred.
Kristin is discussing the “Carrie’s a narcissist ” situation many are talking about online. That notion has gained traction with younger people who are seeing the show for the first time.
Kristin feels TikTok clips are shaping the views of younger fans

The belief that Carrie is a narcissist is not one Kristin agrees with. On the latest episode of her podcast Are You a Charlotte? she said, “I don’t believe that people.” The actress who portrayed Charlotte York on the show thinks TikTok and Instagram clips of Carrie may shape younger fans’ perceptions of that character.
It sounds like Carrie’s fans’ opinions took Kristin by surprise. It wouldn’t be the first time she was caught off guard by something regarding Sex and the City. Kristin admitted in September to being blindsided when the revival series And Just Like That was cancelled.
While she doesn’t agree with young fans about Carrie, Kristin is happy that a new generation is taking a liking to the program and discussing the show’s characters. She says that “those are real people, and that’s how real people are.” Kristin believes Carrie’s perception may stem from the fact that the audience hears her inner thoughts. She says hearing that puts viewers in Carrie’s mind.
Overall, though, Kristin marvelled that years later the show now has a whole new audience. During her time on the original series, Kristin earned Golden Globe and Emmy nominations. Sarah’s depiction of Carrie, meanwhile, previously earned her an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
