As if there weren’t enough negative headlines surrounding West Wilson, here comes his cousin with something exponentially crazier than a Summer House fling. His cousin, Dakota Sweeney, has been arrested for allegedly murdering their step-grandmother. Here’s what we know so far.
West Wilson’s cousin Dakota Sweeney was arrested on April 22
TMZ broke the news about Dakota’s shocking arrest, which happened on April 22, the night before West filmed the Summer House Season 10 reunion. Carroll County law enforcement responded to reports of a shooting at a residence.
Once they arrived, they found 75-year-old Gayle Wilson dead. She’s the stepmom to West’s dad, Bruce, and Dakota’s mom, Kelly.
People reviewed the probable cause statement, which confirmed there was a witness on the scene at the time of the shooting. Both the witness and the victim were identified as Dakota’s grandparents.
According to the witness, Dakota sat in the same room with Gayle for around 30 minutes before allegedly shooting her with a handgun. The witness told the cops that Dakota and Gayle had argued earlier in the evening over chores.
The cops took Dakota into custody without incident, and they located a holster on him. They charged him with first-degree murder, and he is being held without bond.
The day after all of this happened, West sat down with the Summer House cast for the first time since his poorly handled romance with Amanda Batula went viral. He hasn’t commented on the shooting. However, we now know there may have been bigger things on his mind at the time of that reunion.
